Dr Yuemei Ji
Yuemei Ji did her undergraduate studies in economics at Fudan University in Shanghai and obtained her PhD in economics from the University of Leuven in March 2011. She worked as a post-doc researcher at the University of Leuven and was a visiting fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels and the National Bank of Belgium.
Her major research interest is international financial economics in general and the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis in particular. She has done intensive research on the causes of Eurozone debt crisis and has published papers in international journals such as the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of International Money and Finance, and the Journal of Macroeconomics.
The research project she is involved now aims to study the solutions to the Eurozone debt crisis that avoid defaults. Her research covers two themes: the European Central Bank as a “lender of last resort” and the cooperation of macroeconomic policies in the Eurozone.
Currently, she also gives lectures on International Economics and Political Economy of European Integration at SSEES of University College London.
