Corrado Macchiarelli is a LSE (Postdoctoral) Fellow in European Political Economy at the European Institute. Prior to joining the LSE, he worked as an economist at the Euro Area Macro Division of the European Central Bank (ECB).
He obtained his Ph.D. from the Collegio Carlo Alberto, University of Turin in 2011. Here, he participated as (research) economist in different projects on several occasions. He interned at the ECB's EU Countries Division and at the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) European Department, respectively in 2010 and 2009.
Corrado's research interests lie in the fields of (i) international macro and finance and open macroeconomics, (ii) business cycles, and, to a lesser extent, (iii) labor markets. Of particular interest to his research are tests of international parity conditions and theories of exchange rate determination, convergence issues, survey based indicators and labor market transitions.
Beyond his academic endeavours, Corrado is occasionally acting as a consultant to the ECB’s Euro Area Macro Division, where he works on topics related to income distribution / household finances, and current accounts.
