Professor of Economics at Bocconi University, Milan
A national of Italy, Prof Boeri is currently Professor of Economics and Dean for Research at Bocconi University, Milan as well as BP Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics. He also acts as Scientific Director of the Fondazione Rodolfo Debenedetti (www.frdb.org/). He is the founder of the economic policy watchdog website www.lavoce.info, and the scientific director of the Festival of Economics in Trento. He is fellow of the European Economic Association, member of the Academia Europaea, research fellow at CEPR, IZA, Netspar and Igier-Bocconi. He published 12 books with Oxford University Press, MIT Press and Princeton University Press and several scientific articles in top economic journals. He was senior economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development working mostly on the transition to a market economy of formerly planned economies. Subsequently, he has been consultant to the European Commission, European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund, ILO, World Bank and the Italian Government. He writes for LaRepubblica, the leading national newspaper in Italy.
