South East Europe Research Fund

The Fund was established in 2006-7, thanks to the generous contribution of the National Bank of Greece. Main objective of the fund is to provide project funding for research on Southeast Europe, prioritising policy studies on:

  • Intra-regional trade and investment
  • Regional cooperation and stability
  • Relations with the European Union
  • Identities, minorities and migration

Additionally, the Fund is designed to facilitate the following objectives:

  • to enable the HO to host short-term research fellows to support the projects - drawn mostly from the region, strengthening a specialist research network, and helping to develop the skills and expertise available in the home countries;
  • to underscore the collaboration between the Greek and Turkish chairs located at the European Institute, LSE - benefiting from the unique combination of these positions at the LSE within a world-class interdisciplinary environment;
  • to strengthen the position of SEE research at LSE and to allow the European Institute to be flexible and innovative in addressing research themes which arise and impact on Southeast Europe
