Welfare and Pension Reform in Europe: learning from each other?
The Hellenic Observatory organised on Wednesday 25 June it's fourth Annual Conference in Athens, which is linked to the Lectureship in the Political Economy of Greece and Southeast Europe held by Dr Vassilis Monastiriotis.
This year's Athens Conference focused on a particularly topical and important matter, namely the Welfare and Pension Reforms in Europe with a particular focus on Greece. The conference participants discussed the experience of European countries and how the Greek case fits European developments. The event took place on Wednesday 25th June 2008, at 16:30 in the Karatzas Building Auditorium of the National Bank of Greece, 82-84 Eolou Street 102 32 Athens. The conference was co-organised and kindly hosted by the National Bank of Greece.
As with the previous conferences, this year's conference brought together prominent speakers from the academic, policy and business communities. In particular, keynote speakers include: Mr Nikos Analytis, Professor Nicholas Barr, Professor Anton Hemerijck and Mr Giorgos Romanias.
The conference proceedings were opened by the Deputy Minister for Employment Mrs Sofia Kalantzakou and the Chairman of the National Bank of Greece, which hosted the event, Mr Takis Arapoglou.
