2003 Conference

European Security & the New Global Challenges

Europe_map

4 March 2003
Co-organised with the Institute for Defence Analyses

The first Panel clearly struck a strong chord with the local community. The official estimate is that some 700 guests - including staff, students, diplomats, journalists, business representatives, and leaders of the Greek community - attended the event. The presentations elicited a very positive response from the audience: evident in the questions, but also at the reception and in the messages we have received since. Moreover, the session provided the basis for some extensive media coverage, across TV, radio and the press.

The evening panel was also very well attended - many of whom had been unable to attend the earlier session. The discussion was excellent: clearly structured, extremely well informed and lively. The response of the audience was very positive: it was a privilege to hear the discussion.

This was an important conference for the Hellenic Observatory:  a  major opportunity to connect with the agenda of the Greek Presidency of the European Union and the first conference the Hellenic Observatory organised with the Defence Analysis Institute (IAA) in Athens.
