On Tuesday 26 February, Max Watson gave a talk entitled Southeast Europe in the Wake of the Eurocrisis, in which he outlined the political economy of EU integration in the Western Balkans, and the diverse factors that are affecting this region in the wake of the global financial crisis.
Watson| co-ordinates political economy work on South East Europe, and also directs financial market studies, at the European Studies Centre at St Antony's College, Oxford. He is a Visiting Fellow at St Antony's, and a Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford. He was previously a Director of the Central Bank of Ireland, and a senior adviser at the European Commission. From 1979 to 2002 he was at the IMF, where he was successively head of the International Capital Markets Division; a senior adviser on Europe (and mission chief to Romania and Croatia); and a Deputy Director of the Fund.
