The session entitled "Social protection actions within the IPA programme" has been organised in partnership with the Directorate-General for Enlargement of the European Commission.
The Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) is the means by which the EU supports reforms in the enlargement countries by providing financial and technical help. The IPA funds build up the countries’ capacities throughout the accession process, resulting in progressive, positive developments in the region. EU pre accession funds make political and economic reform easier in the beneficiary countries, preparing them for the rights and obligations that come with EU membership. These funds also help the EU reach its own objectives regarding sustainable economic recovery, energy supply, transport, the environment and climate change, etc. This is a sound investment in the future.
This debate has taken place in the frame of the Second Conference of the LSEE Research Network on Social Cohesion in SEE|.
