Dr Eli Gateva is a Visiting Fellow at LSEE Research on South Eastern Europe, European Institute, LSE. She has held academic posts at the University of Manchester and Queen Mary, University of London. Her main research interests include EU conditionality, EU Enlargement policy, Europeanization and EU democratic governance. Her research has explored the nature, evolution and effectiveness of EU enlargement conditionality. Her most recent publication is European Union Enlargement Conditionality (Palgrave, Macmillan, 2015). Eli’s current research evaluates the limitations and implications of EU conditionality applied to member states by focusing on the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) and Task Force for Greece (TFGR).
