Since the onset of the financial crisis in 2007-08, Europe has suffered an unprecedented loss of economic activity, an explosion of public debt and a crisis of its currency union. Four leading European economists – Paul de Grauwe, George Magnus, Thomas Mayer and Holger Schmieding – give their prognoses for the region given the challenges facing it.
