Biography

Dr. Huiyong Zhong is currently an assistant professor at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics. He completed his PhD in economics at Fudan University in June 2015.

His research interests are public finance, corporate finance, political economy and applied econometrics.

Recently, he is focusing on the causes of China’s local government debt and the future development of China’s municipal bond. Along with them, he also compares the issues of China’s local government debt with Eurozone’s sovereign debt crisis, in an effort to analyze the economic mechanism behind them.

He has published several papers in China’s influential academic journals and writes a weekly column in the media to address different issues of his research topics, such as China’s local government debt and bond market. The research projects he has involved aim to find the solutions to the massive size of China’s local government debt.
