Carl-Ludwig is the Department Manager of the European Institute. As head of the EI’s administrative services, he is responsible for strategic planning and development, allocation of resources, departmental finances, and directing the work of the Professional Services Staff. He works closely with the academic Head of Department, Deputy Head and Deputy Department Manager.
Carl-Ludwig has been working in higher education for nearly 20 years. He first joined LSE in 2008, spending six years as an operations manager in LSE’s Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO). During his time in UAO he oversaw the implementation of the School’s new ‘paper-light’ undergraduate admissions system. Prior to joining the European Institute, Carl-Ludwig took a break from Higher Education to work at City Hall, where he managed the Mayor of London’s Public and Community Engagement Unit.
Carl-Ludwig’s free-time interests are cinema, music, photography, running (competing each year in the Berlin Half Marathon), and supporting his football teams (1. FC Köln and Chelsea FC).
