Our disciplinary range is unrivalled: we currently haveacademic staff and distinguished visiting scholars drawn from the fields of politics, economics, geography, history, political economy, law, philosophy, sociology and international relations.
We offer a range of Masters Programmes and an extensive PhD Programme. We currently have one of the largest cohorts of European Studies students anywhere in the world with around 170 Masters students and 30 doctoral students from all regions of the globe.
We are outward looking and have a number of international partners, including Sciences Po (Paris) with whom we have a Double Masters programme. We have strong links with other LSE departments, notably the Government and International Relations departments.

A hallmark of the European Institute is our strong public profile, making LSE one of the leading platforms in the European Union for informed public discussion about the identity of Europe and the many policy challenges confronting the EU and its member states.
We host over 100 events a year, with an outstanding cast list of high-level speakers from politics, public administration and EU institutions, including presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, finance ministers, distinguished scholars and influential commentators.
