Designing a global agreement on climate change finance
Summary of the impact
Research undertaken primarily by Nicholas Stern, together with LSE colleagues, has had a significant impact on the negotiations between Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The research has helped to bring about an agreement that rich countries should provide $100 billion a year by 2020 for adaptation to and mitigation of the effects of climate change in developing countries. It has also provided an understanding of the sources through which this sum should be raised.
