Thesis Title: 'Investor-State Dispute Settlement and the Rule of Law'

Research Interests: International investment law and arbitration; international commercial law; international commercial arbitration; comparative private law

Velimir Zivkovic is currently pursuing PhD in Law at the London School of Economics under the supervision of Professor Jan Kleinheisterkamp and Mr Chris Thomas. He graduated cum laude from undergraduate (International Law group) and LL.M studies (Commercial Law) at University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, before completing Magister Juris studies at University of Oxford (University College) with Distinction and Clifford Chance Best Overall MJur Performance Proxime Accessit prize. His PhD research explores the possibilities of normative reimagining international investment law as a tool for enhancing national rule of law, through ensuring a more prominent role for national as well as comparative law and practice in the decision-making process. Other academic activities include the cooperation with the Institute of Comparative Law in Belgrade (where he was formerly a full-time Associate Researcher) and coaching of the LSE Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration moot team.
