David’s research interests lie at the
interface of constitutional law, political theory and social
and economic rights. In his doctoral work, David seeks to
theorise how trust functions in the political relationships
involved in the administration of social welfare
entitlements, and to employ this theory to define the role
of courts in this area. He does so by drawing upon, and
importing into law, ideas from political theory, philosophy,
sociology and psychology.
David holds law degrees from New York University (LLM (Legal
Theory)) where he was named a Hans Kelsen Scholar, Osgoode
Hall Law School (LLB) where he graduated in the top 1%, and
recently completed an Erasmus exchange with the European
University Institute. He also holds a degree in Psychology
from the University of Toronto (BSc (Hons)) receiving High
Distinction and the St. Michael’s College Silver Medal in
Science.
Additionally, David is a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the
Law Department. Previously, he has conducted research in
collaboration with the Center for Constitutional
Transitions, served as a judicial clerk to the Justices of
the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of
Israel, and worked as a research assistant to various
professors at LSE, NYU, Osgoode and the American University
in Cairo.
