Biographies of individual persons are shelved alphabetically by the first three letters of the subjects name, e.g. a biography of Sydney Silverman is shelved at SIL.
General and miscellaneous works on law, including histories and collected biographies, are shelved with the prefix GEN, followed by the first three letters of the authors name, e.g. The Supreme Court in United States history by Charles Warren is shelved at GEN WAR.
