ISIG Public Seminar
What is context in IS research, why does it matter, and how do we study it?
Chrisanthi Avgerou ISIG, LSE
Tuesday 9 February 2010
This presentation draws from a review of contextualist IS research that I am currently working on. I will argue for the significance of explicitly accounting for context in IS research, summarise the main ways of considering context in the IS literature, and identify major theoretical challenges. I will focus in particular on two such challenges: (a) the linking of micro-situated with macro-level contextual analyses, and (b) the relativist character of contextual studies. I will present my effort to produce a publishable review/theory publication and I will raise questions for discussion that I hope are of interest to the ISIG research community
Please note that public events organised by ISIG are normally videoed and streamed from our website.
