The Emergence and Implications of the CIO Management Model in State Government in the US: a neo-institutional perspective
In simple terms, this research seeks to understand how one state government in the United States has appropriated the CIO management model from the macro environment and made it their own, and, in turn, how this process is shaping technology in the environment in question.
The body of theory that will inform this investigation is neo-institutional theory with a specific emphasis on the process of institutionalisation. The process of institutionalisation will be examined by using the analytic device of ideals, discourses and techniques of control as articulated in the work of Hasselbladh and Kallinikos. This research is informed by a social constructionist ontology and will employ an interpretive epistemological framework.
