Old Theatre Wednesday 21 March, 6.00 - 8.00 p.m.
Surveying current trends in information security, its clear that a myriad of forces is at work. But fundamentally, security is all about economics: both attacker and defender are trying to maximize the return on their investments. Economics can both explain why security fails so often, and offer new solutions for security success. For example, often the people who could protect a system are not the ones who suffer the costs of failure. Changing those economic incentives will do more to improve security than more technology.
Bruce Schneier is an internationally renowned security technologist and author. Described by The Economist as a "security guru," He is best known as a refreshingly candid and lucid security critic and commentator.
Bruce Schneir is also the keynote speaker for the 7th SSIT workshop which will take place on 19 and 20 of March at LSE.
Chair: Prof. Chrisanthi Avgerou
