This is a presentation of two recently edited volumes that reflect the impact of the sociology of science and technology on organization studies. The books, and the talk, explore the key concepts borrowed from SST, and illustrate their possible uses in organization studies.

Global Ideas: : How Ideas, Objects and Practices Travel in the Global Economy (with Guje Sevón), Copenhagen Business School Press, 2005
Barbara Czarniawska holds the Swedish Research Council & Malmsten Foundation Chair of Management Studies at Gothenburg Research Institute, School of Business, Economics and Law, Göteborg University, Sweden. She received a MA in Social and Industrial Psychology, Warsaw University, 1970; Ph.D. in Economic Sciences, Warsaw School of Economics, 1976; Doctor honoris causa at Stockholm School of Economics, 2005; Copenhagen Business School, 2006; Helsinki School of Economics, 2006. Her research focuses on organizing in action nets and the connections between popular culture and management theory and practice. She is also a methodologist, with interest in field study methods and the narrative approaches. Recent publications in English: A Tale of Three Cities or the Glocalization of City Management, 2002; Narratives in Social Science Research, 2004. Recently edited volumes: Actor-Network Theory and Organizing (with Tor Hernes, 2005), Global Ideas (with Guje Sevón, 2005) and Management Education & Humanities (with Pasquale Gagliardi, 2006).
Member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, the Swedish Royal Engineering Academy, and the Royal Society of Art and Sciences in Gothenburg. Lily and Sven Thuréus Technical-Economic Award for internationally renowned research in organization theory, 2000; Wihuri International Prize "in recognition of creative work that has specially furthered and developed the cultural and economic progress of mankind", 2003.
