Lisa Vanhala joined the Centre as an ESRC Post-doctoral Fellow in April 2009. She recently completed her DPhil in Politics at Nuffield College, Oxford University. Lisas research interests lie at the intersection of political science, sociology and law. Her thesis Making Rights a Reality? Disability Rights Activists and Legal Mobilization in Canada and the UK explores the use of strategic litigation by social movement actors in comparative perspective. More broadly, her research interests include comparative constitutionalism and the enforcement of human rights provisions, new social movements, new institutional theories in political science and qualitative research methods.
Lisa has publications forthcoming in Journal of European Public Policy, Canadian Journal of Political Science and Regional and Federal Studies. She has also studied at McGill University in Canada and Sciences Po, Paris.
