Law, war and human rights evening course
Updated and expanded, our successful eight week programme examining the laws of war and international criminal law from the perspective of international human rights law is now open for registration. Held by way of a weekly 2 hour evening seminar (1 February - 22 March) taught by expert practitioners and leading academics, this course confronts the crucial questions: are human rights law, the laws of war and international criminal law three distinct disciplines? Have they now become so entwined that it is not possible fully to understand one without some knowledge of the other? Essential education for not only those who need to be able to apply the international human rights law framework to the law of war in their work, but also to those who are interested in the added value of human rights, and in analysing these issues.
On 29 October, Professor Noam Chomsky launched the Centre's autumn events programme with a hugely popular lecture. He spoke to a packed Old Theatre, to a video links in two other theatres and to countless others who watched the lecture being broadcast live on the LSE website. Audio and video recordings, and Professor Chomsky's lecture notes, are available on the event page, via this link.
