The course work and study visits for this Programme are only open to the 12 Chevening Gurukul Scholars.

 

Events

LSE provides a regular programme of lunchtime and evening lectures and seminars on a wide range of subjects including politics, society, culture, architecture and art. The Peacock Theatre, which is adjacent to the Houghton Street campus, stages dance and theatre productions throughout the year and provides a large venue for visiting speakers. Other events include classical and jazz concert evenings, which are held in the Shaw Library and often feature international performers. These concerts are free to LSE staff and students.

The Library

The British Library of Political and Economic Science is internationally recognised as a major social science library and is extensively used by scholars and researchers from around the world, as well as by staff and students of LSE. You will be provided with a library card and you are free to make use of the facilities. Please see the Library web pages for further information.

Restaurants/cafés

The LSE campus has a number of restaurants/cafés on site, serving a range of hot and cold food, snacks, drinks etc. For further information, please see Central Catering Services for Students and Staff.

Covent Garden has a huge range of cafés, restaurants, bars and food shops all within a minute's walk of each other.

Shops

The School is located in the heart of London, with easy access to a variety of shops. Covent Garden is only five minutes and Oxford Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus only 15 minutes walk from LSE.

LSE Gym

All students can make use of the student union gym, located in the East Building. The gym is staffed by professionals and includes the latest state of the art equipment. All new members receive an induction. Enquiries to the LSE Gym.

Transport

You can get to LSE via:

Underground stations: Holborn (Piccadilly, Central), Charing Cross (Northern, Bakerloo) and Temple (Circle, District).

Mainline railways: Charing Cross and Waterloo are only minutes away from the School and Euston and King's Cross a ten minute bus journey.

Buses: From the Strand and Trafalgar Square, buses serve the whole of London.
