Graduated: LLB (2003) Nationality: Indian Occupation: Solicitor/Advocate for Ashurst

a very good law school and the name opens doors to any organisation
Career path
- Undertook several summer jobs whilst in school
- Awarded a BA (Hons) in History from Delhi University in 2000
- Awarded an LLB Law degree from the LSE in 2003
- Undertook various summer internship programmes with city law firms including: Ashurst, Cameron McKenna and DLA
- Completed the LPC from BPP law school
- Voluntary activities include pro bono and charity works both in Ashurst and in other voluntary non-profit organisations in England and India, such as the Das Foundation for homeless children in Ahmedabad (India)
My aspirations have not changed but rather my ambitions have grown since LSE. I have always wanted to be a lawyer and now am a solicitor at Ashurst.
Current job
My day-to-day responsibilities have escalated as the training contract has progressed and no doubt that it has been a high pressure job. The most important skills which I think are important when starting any career, be it law or otherwise, are:
- a willingness to learn together
- to work very hard
- be keen and personable with people at ANY level
To work efficiently I also believe that organisational skills/being painstakingly methodical is paramount.
I chose my current job at Ashurst because this was the ideal fit to my personal and professional needs. The culture, values and practice strengths of Ashurst impressed me. I was particularly interested when I realised that Ashurst have a Delhi office, since I am from Delhi.
I enjoy the high level of responsibility that has been given to me especially as I am simply a junior fee earner. The great thing is that if I put in 100 per cent effort there is great potential to be noticed, grow and achieve both the firm's and my own personal ambitions.
Future plans
I am planning to remain in Ashurst and would like to be a good corporate lawyer with one or two specialisations under my belt. I would definitely like to increase and develop further the India practice. ^ Back to top
