Shaun Riordan
Visiting Fellow
After studying Philosophy at Cambridge, Shaun spent 16 years in the British Diplomatic Service. He served in New York and Peking (during Tiananmen) and in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as Head of the Middle Eastern Section of the Counter-Terrorist Department and as Head of the Policy Section of the Yugoslav Department (during the war in Bosnia). His last posting was as successively Head of the Political Section and Political and Press Section of the British Embassy in Madrid. He resigned from the Diplomatic Service in 2000. His book "The New Diplomacy" was recently published by Polity Press.
