Introduction
Developing the Political Response to Globalization.
The world's economies and societies are becoming more and more integrated but the rules and institutions for managing them are being left behind. Global Dimensions is a research programme for developing policy responses to the issues raised by globalisation. The programme is based at the Centre for the Study of Global Governance and led by Professor Lord Desai. The programme brings together statesmen, policy-advisors, academics and members of civil society.
The programme has four principle activities:
- A research programme led by Dr Razeen Sally, investigating aspects of globalisation and global governance.
- A series of global seminars covering the major areas of contention in the globalisation debate. These seminars draw together a range of global expertise and experience in an international context and provide a forum in which this expertise can exchanged, discussed and reported.
- A Distinguished Visiting Fellowship programme designed to engage current and former global statesmen. The fellowship allows individuals with global policy experience to spend time at the London School of Economics investigating and promoting specific research areas using the full academic resources available at the school.
- A Global Dimensions website. As well as disseminating the results of the programme and publicising its work, the site acts as a portal to all the latest thinking on globalisation available on the web. Updated regularly, the site provides an invaluable resource to those involved in analysing and shaping the processes of globalisation.
Global Dimensions is supported by a grant from BP.
