International Working Paper Series

General Introduction to International Working Paper Series

Series Editor: David Lewis

The Centre for Civil Society (formerly the Centre for Voluntary Organisation) has a longstanding research interest in the organisation and management of NGOs. The MSc in Management of Non-Governmental Organisations, established in 1995, is one of the first courses of its kind, and has brought to the LSE a wide range of students - most of them NGO practitioners - from Europe, Asia, America, Africa and the Caribbean.

The CCS International Working Papers aim to circulate original and innovative work on NGOs by staff and students. Each paper will deal with one or more of the following central themes: increasing understanding of civil society and development policy analysing issues in the management of non-governmental organisations working in the development field exchanging ideas, at the level of practice and research, between ‘Northern’ and ‘Southern’ contexts

The papers are intended to be readily accessible to policy makers, NGO practitioners and researchers and can be viewed and downloaded from this site. For more information, please contact the Centre at ccs@lse.ac.uk

The financial assistance of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) towards the editing and distribution of student dissertations dealing with issues of NGO management is gratefully acknowledged.
