Publications of the Centre for Voluntary Organisation, the predecessor of the Centre for Civil Society, are still available, including CVO Working Papers, CVO Case Studies, and, in particular, the publications on Building the Capacity of Small Voluntary Agencies (or Juggling on a Unicycle).

  • CVO Working Papers published by the Centre in order to make available the findings of its research programme as quickly as possible. The aim is to stimulate and inform discussion of the distinctive features of voluntary sector organisation and management not only by academics and researchers but also by those who work in and with voluntary agencies and NGOs.

Copies of working papers are still available.  Many of the titles have been subsequently been published elsewhere and are not therefore being reprinted. The titles being maintained by the Centre are listed here

  • Voluntary Sector Case Studies - edited versions of research-based dissertations produced by students on the MSc course in Voluntary Sector Organisation which have been selected for their relevance to those concerned with the organisation and management of voluntary agencies and NGOs.

Copies of case studies are still available. Some of these case studies have been published elsewhere but titles being maintained by the Centre are listed here

  • proceedings of CVO's 20th anniversary conference.
  • occasional monographs on Non-Governmental Organisations and Housing Associations.
