Bridget Hutter, Director of CARR, will be taking part in the Summit on the Global Agenda 2009 in Dubai, on 20-22 November. Bridget has been invited to become a Member of the World Economic Forums Global Agenda Council on Catastrophic Risks 2009. Each Council, comprised of 15-20 Members, serves as an advisory board to the Forum and other interested parties, such as governments and international organizations.
Michael Power, Research Theme Director at CARR, will be part of a panel discussion on Auditor Independence held by the Audit Quality Forum at ICAEW, Moorgate Place, on 24 November.
Michael Power will also be part of a panel discussion on Managing Risk and Behaviour in Financial Markets organized by the European Forum for Philosophy and held at LSE, Old Theatre, from 6.30-8pm on 25 November.
Sally Lloyd-Bostock, ESRC Professorial Fellow, will submit an End of Award Report to the ESRC on her project "An Analysis of Data on Registration and Fitness to Practice Cases Held by the General Medical Council in the Context of Risk-Based Approaches to Medical Regulation" in November. CARR News:
Upcoming CARR seminar: Professor Margaret Woods from Nottingham University Business School will be giving a lecture entitled "Risk and performance management in major UK public and private sector organizations: a tale of contrasting cultures" at CARR on 1 December. The seminar will take place in room G305 from 1-2.30pm.
Rune Premfors, Professor of Political Science and Research Director at SCORE, is currently visiting CARR. Rune has a longstanding interest in the tensions between political democracy and public administration. He is currently researching the Swedish Government Offices as part of a major national research programme. He is also co-writing a book analyzing the role of the state in creating and supervising markets in Sweden.
Jeanette Hofmann, ESRC Research Officer, co-moderated a plenary meeting on "Managing Critical Internet Resources" at the 4th Internet Governance Forum, convened by the United Nations Secretary-General, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, on 16 November.
