Professor Nick Tiratsoo

Born in 1952 he obtained his PhD at the London School of Economics, and undertook research on a notable collection of business histories, including the history of the National Coal Board and British Rail. He was a lecturer in the Centre for Social History, University of Warwick, and has organised several BHU projects, He was latterly a Professor of British Contemporary History in the University of Luton.

His many publications include: Reconstruction, Affluence and Labour Politics: Coventry, 1945-1960 (Routledge, 1990); Industrial Efficency and State Intervnetion, 1939-51 (Routledge/LSE, 1993) and The Conservatives and Industrial Efficiency, 1951-1964 (Routledge/LSE, 1998) (both with Jim Tomlinson); England Arise! the Labour Party and Popular Politics in 1940s Britain (Manchester UP, 1995, with Steven Fielding and Peter Thompson); From Blitz to Blair (Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 1997); Missionaries and Managers (Manchester UP, 1998, ed. with Terry Gourvish); and Labour's First Century (Cambridge UP, 2000, ed. with Pat Thane and Duncan Tanner).

Nick is currently writing a book with Ken Starkey on the future of business schools for Cambridge University Press.
