Under Mayor Anne Hidalgo, Paris has set the standard for innovative policies that tackle social exclusion and the integration of migrant communities. At the same time, the city has implemented a radical agenda to reduce carbon emissions, by limiting the use of private cars, investing in green transport and confronting the heat island effect. The architect of ‘Re-inventing Paris’ reflects on the impact of these at times controversial measures on Parisians, a few months after the Mayoral election of March 2020.
