Aims and objectives

After successfully completing this package, participants will be able to: 

  • Use Chinese to communicate in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Understand communication between persons from different cultural backgrounds and in different cultural contexts, particularly in a business context.
  • Provide you with an opportunity to reflect on how cultural context influences identity construction and negotiation, including your own, in intercultural communication and the features of effective communication with people from different cultural backgrounds and in diverse contexts, in the broad framework of “native” and “other” cultures, as well in the more fluid and dynamic contexts of intercultural communication.
  • Help you to explore the relationship between language teaching and intercultural communication.

 2. Effective business communication: Western & Confucian heritage
 3. Business operations in an intercultural setting: Relationship based, right based and rule based work culture
 4. Negotiation in an intercultural context
 5. Decision making
 6. Nonverbal communication
 7. Leadership and multicultural teams
 8. Power distance and bureaucracy

 

Course details

Duration: 8 hours for a package

Venue: LSE campus/your office or online

Trainers: CIBL expert teachers

Price: £350 per hour for a group of 12
