Agirre Retolaza, Usoa - project manager
 
After graduating in Economics from The Basque University, Usoa worked at a small consultancy in Bilbao. In 2009 she was one of the participants attending an Executive Education course at LSE. In 2010 she moved to LSE Enterprise, where she works on a range of executive education and consultancy projects focused on Spain. She is involved in facilitating course deliveries in Spain and the UK.

Usoa has experience in running long-term training programmes and has supported programmes including the Young Professional Programme for Cajastur and the European Political Economy and Finance Programme for the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia.

Adam Austerfield

Austerfield, Adam  - project director

Adam Austerfield has a BA (Hons) in History from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) and an MSc in Politics and Economics from LSE. He is currently a Director at LSE Enterprise Ltd, the business arm of LSE, where he has worked since 1995, and is responsible for Spain, Portugal and Latin America. He is Secretary-General of the thousand-strong LSE Alumni Group in Spain, Vice-President of the British Chambers of Commerce in Spain for the Madrid region, and a Patron of the Foro Hispano Británico.

He currently works on the design and management of large-scale executive education, applied research and sponsored programmes with major corporations, a variety of regional and national governments and universities across Iberia and Latin America, specialising in finance, economics, management and geopolitics.

Anju Begum

Begum, Anju - project administration manager

Anju is the project administration manager for LSE Consulting, responsible for managing the financial aspects of all consultancy projects including budget management, invoicing and payments.  Anju holds a BSc in Computing Science from Middlesex University and has previously worked at the Heritage Lottery Fund and subsequently in LSE's Research Project Development Division.

Hafsa-Begum

Begum, Hafsa - payroll and HR administrator

After completing a Master’s in International Human Resource Management at Greenwich University, Hafsa worked as a Client Payroll Administrator for Human Capital Investment Group (HCIG), part of the Hamilton & Bradshaw/James Khan portfolio of investments within the private equity market. She was responsible for start to finish payroll administration of healthcare professionals, processing and quality checking 4,200 timesheets and running two payrolls per week in order to meet payroll deadlines and client expectations. 

At LSE Enterprise, Hafsa is responsible for academic and staff payroll administration and HR functions.

Bikbaev, Yury - programme director

Yury's principal responsibilities include LSE Custom Programmes, particularly our long-term institutional collaborations with public sector agencies and multinational corporations around the world, as well as select commercial research and international consultancy projects. Working closely with LSE academics and outside experts, Yury structures design and delivery of customised executive education and training programmes, specialising in international relations and diplomacy, public sector management and leadership, and business strategy and administration areas. His clients include government ministries and economic development agencies from the UK, Europe and the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East and Africa. Corporate clients include top global brands in pharmaceuticals, financials, industrial, and energy. He also works as part of the Duke Corporate Education and LSE Enterprise Joint Venture on customised executive education projects and business development activities.

Yury's experience in industry, international banking, government related programmes and executive education spans over 20 years. He has an MBA with concentration in Finance, an MSc in Politics of the World Economy and a BA in Industrial Technology.

Davies, Simon   - associate director

Simon has been a Visiting Fellow in Law at both the University of Greenwich and the University of Essex, and spent 13 years at LSE, where he taught the groundbreaking MSc Masters course in "Privacy & Data Protection". He is also co-director of LSE’s Policy Engagement Network.

Simon is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential data protection and internet rights experts in the world and is a pioneer of the international privacy arena. His work in consumer rights and technology policy has spanned over 25 years and has directly influenced the development of law and public policy in more than 40 countries.  He has advised a wide range of corporate, government and professional bodies, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. He brings a unique interface with global stakeholders, from major international corporations to government and civil society.

Niccolo Durazzi

Durazzi, Niccolo - deputy project director

Niccolo is deputy project director of LSE Consulting. He is responsible for business development and project implementation in the fields of education, social and cohesion policy, with a specific focus on public sector clients.

Niccolo holds an MSc (distinction) in European Political Economy from the LSE European Institute, an MA (honours) from the University of Bologna in International Cooperation, Development and Human Rights and a BA in International and Diplomatic Science. 

He joined LSE Consulting in 2010 and has managed projects and produced studies and evaluations for a variety of clients, including the European Commission, the European Parliament, EU agencies, national governments, as well as international organisations.

Niccolo is co-author of several reports, including a research paper for the UK Government, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills on the social benefits of higher education| and a study for the European Commission, DG Education and Culture on university-business cooperation in the US|.

Flemington, Simon - chief executive officer

As the chief executive of LSE Enterprise, Simon is responsible for strategic business development, LSE Enterprise corporate governance matters and major projects. He holds a BA in Politics and Economic History and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Prior to LSE he ran a number of educational businesses at BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the corporation.

Elitsa Garnizova

Garnizova, Elitsa - project officer

Elitsa is a project officer and researcher in LSE Enterprise’s Social and Cohesion Policy Unit. She has an MA in European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives from KU Leuven, Belgium and a BSc in International Economic and Management from Bocconi University, Italy. Prior to joining LSE, she worked with a London-based strategy consultancy, the Royal Institute of International Affairs and the European Commission.

Her research interests include regional and cohesion policy, trade policy, international affairs and the European Neighbourhood Policy. She is fluent in Bulgarian and English, has working knowledge of French and Italian and is currently studying Arabic (MSA).

Griffith, Martin - finance director and company secretary

Martin is responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting for LSE Enterprise. He holds a BA in Accountancy and Management Control, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Over the last 20 years Martin has performed roles for a number of major consultancy and professional services providers; including seven years as Financial Controller for Penna Plc, one of the UK's leading HR consultancies.

Julie Grosbois

Grosbois, Julie - project administrator

Julie is involved in the administration and coordination of customised executive training programmes. Julie holds a Master’s Degree in International Project Management from the University of Western Brittany at Brest and a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages and International Business from the University of Angers. She has studied and worked abroad, notably in Spain, the USA and the UK.

Prior to joining LSE Enterprise, Julie worked for the Enterprise Europe Network branch in Manchester (a European support network for enterprises). She is fluent in French, English, and Spanish, has a basic knowledge of Italian and is currently learning Mandarin.

Grous, Dr Alexander  - academic associate

Alexander blends a professional background with postgraduate studies in economics, finance, IT and management. He brings extensive international experience to the LSE from high technology, internet, telecoms, FMCG, broadcasting, print and digital media, and other sectors. He advises organisations on a wide range of themes including social networking, digital identity, search engines, e-commerce strategies, ICT optimisation, management practices and their effect on firm performance, and others.

Bregtje Kamphuis

Kamphuis, Bregtje - project officer

Bregtje is a project officer at LSE Consulting. She is responsible for business development and project implementation primarily in the fields of law (with specific interest in public international law, human rights and dispute resolution), anthropology, media, and European social policy.

Bregtje holds an MSc in Law, Anthropology and Society from LSE and a BA in Liberal Arts from the University College of Utrecht, with a focus on law and politics. Prior to joining LSE Consulting, she worked at the Vitoria Institute of International Law and Policy and a human rights NGO in The Hague. She speaks native English and Dutch, as well as conversational Spanish.

Florian Lennert

Lennert, Florian   - associate director

Florian advises and leads on LSE Enterprise strategic projects with a particular focus on Germany and environmental innovation. He holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Public Policy and Public Administration from LSE and has worked with LSE in a senior role for over 15 years. From 1999-2007 he was Director of Corporate Relations at LSE and responsible for university-business research collaboration, corporate partnerships and international business development, including the LSE Asia Forum and the establishment of LSE offices in New York and New Delhi.

Previously, Florian co-founded the LSE Centre for the Analysis of Risk and Regulation and has been involved in launching a number of interdisciplinary research centres and institutes at the LSE. A native of Berlin, Florian has in the past worked with the German Institute of Urban Research and the German federal privatisation agency.

Florian advises research institutions and technology-transfer ventures on research development and commercialisation strategies. He is a Visiting Fellow at the LSE Grantham Research Institute for Climate and Environment. He currently leads the Intelligent City Forum in Berlin, a renewable energy and mobility research and technology transfer centre in Berlin, Germany.

Jeannine McMahon

McMahon, Jeannine - project director

Jeannine is the project director for LSE Consulting, responsible for strategic planning, overall management of projects and business development. Jeannine works closely with LSE academics and departments across the School to facilitate collaborations with public and private sector bodies. She holds a BA Hons in History and Media from Ulster University, a PG Dip in Arts Administration and a Certificate in Management. Since joining LSE Enterprise in 2003 Jeannine has helped shape the consulting operations, growing the business into a multi-million venture with a strong team of business developers and managers. She has previously worked as a corporate fundraiser and marketer, actively managing a range of portfolios for clients.

Inés Medrano

Medrano, Inés - operations manager 

Inés
Medrano studied English Philology at the University Autónoma de Madrid, Spain, and has worked for many years organising high level events for various companies in Spain. She joined LSE Enterprise in 2012 and is based in our Madrid office. She is in charge of supporting Spanish programmes and events, as well as all Madrid-based administrative tasks. In addition, she coordinates LSE alumni events on behalf of Adam Austerfield.

Maria is a project officer at LSE Enterprise, involved in facilitating course deliveries in Spain and the UK. Maria graduated in Business Administration and Management from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. She worked in the planning department of a retail company in Barcelona during her last year. After graduating she was selected to participate in the Spanish Chamber of Commerce’s Graduate European Programme and joined LSE Enterprise in London.

Simona Milio

Milio, Simona - associate director

Dr Simona Milio is Associate Director of the Social and Cohesion Policy Unit at LSE Enterprise. She has a PhD in European Political Economy and ten years of expertise in Structural Funds evaluation and Cohesion Policy implementation. She has worked extensively with the European Union as well as regional and national governments.

Simona has successfully published in highly regarded international journals such as Regional Studies and West European Politics. Her recent monograph explores potential reasons for deficiencies in policy implementation across the European Union, using a wide range of member state case studies. She has recently co-edited a book for Palgrave on EU Budget Reform and Institutional Change. Her latest projects include an exploration of project funding in the EU 27, an assessment of the performance of the operational and territorial programmes in the EU 27, and a comparative analysis of the role of FDI across Spain, Italy, Germany and the UK.

She also teaches a course at LSE on European Political Economy and on Understanding the Causes of Things. She is fluent in both Italian and English and has experience in designing and implementing surveys across the EU.

Neky, Rehanna - marketing and communications manager

Rehanna publicises consultancy and executive education opportunities to LSE academics, and communicates news about LSE Enterprise beyond the School. She took her BA and MA at the University of Sussex and has over ten years of experience in editing, communications and marketing for universities and in the private sector. She holds a Market Research Society qualification and a Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Sonia Paiva

Paiva, Sonia  - assistant accountant

After graduating in Business Management from Oporto University, Sonia worked at Deloitte Portugal delivering accounting consultancy services throughout different industries and companies. She then worked in London as a provider of professional services in connection with management reporting and tax compliance to UK and overseas companies.

Scendo-Kokot, Kris - project coordinator

Kris is involved in different projects and business activities within LSE Custom Programmes. Working with national and international partners, he takes on the administration and coordination of LSE executive education custom programmes and ensures successful delivery of these programmes in the UK and abroad. Prior to his employment at LSE Kris worked within the structures of the MBA Programme of the European University Viadrina in Germany.   

Kris gained his academic and professional experience having lived, studied and worked in Poland, Germany, Ireland, Spain and most recently in the UK. He holds a BA in Multilingual Communication from Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and a double MA in Intercultural Communication Studies from European University Viadrina (Germany) and in Cultural Studies from Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland) with majors in Intercultural Management and Translation Studies. Kris speaks native Polish and is fluent in English, German and Spanish.

Sen, Julius- academic director, senior programme adviser and honorary professor 

Julius designs and delivers executive education programmes for private sector companies and for senior civil servants from the UK, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Libya, Thailand and Spain. He also teaches courses at Birkbeck College on the WTO and on the political economy of developing countries.

He has contributed extensively to projects that evaluate the policy and regulatory implications of commercial developments, including technological change and innovation; and on the commercial implications of policy and regulatory decisions taken by governments, regulators and international institutions.

A member of the Indian Administrative Service for almost 30 years, Julius is now part of the International Trade Policy Unit in the department of International Relations. He is a special adviser to the professional public affairs body FIPRA International| and a member of the Expert Group of the APEC SME Crisis Management Center.

He was recently appointed Honorary Professor of Public Administration by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan.

Tanguy Sene

Sene, Tanguy - project officer

Tanguy is project officer at LSE Consulting, working primarily on education, employment and skills. He holds an MSc in European and Comparative Social Policy from LSE, an MA in European Affairs from Sciences-Po and a BA in European Studies from the Sorbonne Nouvelle. Before joining LSE, he worked at QS Intelligence Unit, the consulting unit of QS, a world university ranking company, and the European Parliament. He also worked as research assistant for an economist from Sciences-Po.

His research interests lie in EU policy (from both legal and economic perspectives), cross-national comparison of European welfare states and quantitative methods in social sciences. He is fluent in French, English, and Spanish, and has an intermediary level in German.

 
 
Jeremey Shipp

Shipp, Jeremey - deputy programme director

Jeremey works on LSE Custom Programmes projects and is also involved in facilitating course delivery at all phases, from conception to evaluation. He holds a BA in German from Royal Holloway, University of London.

Termes Soto, Vanessa - project administrator 

Vanessa is a Project Administrator at LSE Enterprise, helping facilitate custom programmes for Spanish and Latin American clients in both the UK and abroad. Vanessa specialises in long term programmes at the student level. Recent programmes have included the European Political Economy and Finance Programme for the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia and a course for the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México. Vanessa graduated in Journalism from the Universidad Europea de Madrid, Spain. Previously she worked for a personal coaching company in Spain as an executive administrator.

Terry, Francis - expert in public management

Francis was Academic Director of the LSE/Libyan Government programme for training of senior civil servants. His previous career blends a long experience of policy analysis in government with research and evaluation. His current research interests include the gestation and delivery of public-private partnerships, policy evaluation studies and skill development in the public services.

From 1989-2001, Francis was Editor-in-Chief of the policy journal Public Money & Management. He holds a Visiting Fellowship at the National Institute of Economic & Social Research, is a Senior Fellow of the Centre for Transformation and Strategic Initiatives and for many years was Chairman of the UK Regulated Industries Network. He is a board member of the Public Management & Policy Association and has worked with the UK National Audit Office and the Irish NAO on evaluation studies. He is a former professor of business research at Nottingham Business School.

Thiel, Christian - manager (Germany)

Christian leads LSE Enterprise's work in Germany. He completed his Masters at the European Institute at LSE in 2007 and was subsequently a senior associate with a global communications agency consulting for major companies from a broad variety of industries as well as governmental institutions. He has studied and worked in the UK, Germany, Spain, the United States and Argentina. Christian speaks native German and is fluent in English and Spanish.
