Globalisation, Economic Development and International Migration

The first Masterclass for 2014 took place in Madrid from Tuesday 1 to Thursday 3 April at the Fundación Ramón Areces.

In this Masterclass, we first focussed on the rapidly changing global economy and the growing power of emerging markets in global trade and investment. Within this context, we then examined the economic issues from the regional perspective, where a great deal of regional innovation and business activity is driving growth. Finally, we looked at how global migration has posed new challenges to national and international public policy makers in their attempt to manage cross-border flows and their economic, social and political impact.
