Second Custom Programme with Jiangsu Province Universities Concluded

Suman students at LSE 2014On 5 August 2014 the second custom programme for universities from Jiangsu province of China was concluded. It was attended by 36 students from ten different universities of the province, and the students had to go through a competitive application process back in China to attend the programme at LSE. Delivered between 28 July and 5 August, the programme covered topics and debates in international financial architecture and corporate finance and strategy. It was funded by JESIE, Department of Higher Education International Exchange, which oversees education services and international collaboration of the Jiangsu province.

Delivered with a full schedule of daily interactive lectures and sessions, the programmes culminated in an exam which the group passed with an overall grade point average of 85%. “The structure of the course was excellent and clear,” commented one participant. “All of the academics were friendly and professional, and I hope that they can establish a closer relationship with us,” said another student.

Suman students at LSE 2014This is the second programme organised between LSE Custom Programmes and the government and universities of Jiangsu province. Professor Wei Julong, Deputy Director of JESIE, visited LSE during the programme delivery and said that LSE had designed an outstanding course for the programme participants. He emphasised that this was an opportunity for students to broaden their horizons, and he encouraged them to work hard and share their experiences with other students when they go back to China. He also expressed his gratitude to LSE for putting together such an excellent programme.

“Our engagement with China is gaining speed, and through this programme we are pleased to provide an opportunity for Chinese students to have a first-hand experience of LSE while also gaining lessons in the topics of their interest”, said Yury Bikbaev, Director of Custom Programmes at LSE Enterprise. “We hope to capitalise on this milestone and expand our work with Jiangsu province and China.”
