Applications are now being accepted for the October 2011 programme in Finance and International Economics. Up to ten young professionals from Asturias will have the opportunity to undertake a ten-week programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science, generously supported by CajAstur.
Participants will attend an intensive series of postgraduate lectures and seminars, learn practical career skills and visit several UK institutions such as the House of Commons and local government offices. Upon returning to their region, they will not only have an understanding of finance, management and the global economy, but exposure to critical thinking and the communication and leadership skills to play a significant part in the future of Asturias.
Máximo Martínez Lagarejos, a Personnel Officer at Cabueñes Hospital in Asturias, took the 2010 programme.
'After completing this demanding programme I can better understand the complex relationship between finance, politics, society and institutional factors in pursuit of increased welfare and reduced imbalances across populations. I have a clearer strategic vision about how external and internal determinants affect management and governance in organisations, and how countries are evolving amidst changing local, national and international economic and political scenarios.
'I'm now better prepared for career opportunities in the Spanish national health system and the broader public administration framework, with widened employability across other sectors and countries.' More
