The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and CajAstur have now held two terms of the CajAstur Young Professionals Programme. Up to ten specially selected participants, with the potential to contribute to the future of Asturias, undertook a customised Economics and Management programme at LSE each year.
This intensive ten-week master's level course ran from October to December, with participants accommodated in the heart of London. Each participant discussed their interests and goals in advance with a member of LSE staff and planned their objectives for the programme. Leading specialists and practitioners from across and beyond LSE gave participants a strong academic grounding in the subject, with a combination of lectures, seminars and visits to UK institutions. Key topics consisted of micro, macro and international economics, finance and international marketing, with further options available in political economy, accounting, management, politics and more.
Participants had full access to LSE facilities, such as the British Library of Political and Economic Science, the virtual learning environment and public events by world-renowned speakers. They were taught as a cohort as well as receiving tuition alongside other LSE students for better integration into academic life. Assessment took place via a mixture of written, oral, group and individual methods. Upon successful completion of the course participants received a LSE Executive Education certificate.
LSE is global in outlook and culturally diverse in character. It is based in the heart of London, one of the most exciting cities in the world, between Covent Garden and the City of London. LSE is in the top five social science universities worldwide (THES rankings 2009) and has the highest percentage of world-leading research of any UK university (RAE 2008).
The programme was organised by LSE Enterprise, the gateway to LSE's academic expertise.
