Dr Mamata Swain

Dr Mamata SwainDr Mamata Swain was a Commonwealth Fellow at the LSE Asia Research Centre.

She is Professor of Economics and Dean, School of Social Sciences at Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, India. Dr Swain obtained her MPhil from the Delhi School of Economics and her PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies. Her areas of research interest are Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics and Water Resources Management. She has pursued post-doctoral research on water pricing at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver being awarded a Canadian Faculty Research Fellowship. Dr Swain also carried out research on Participatory Irrigation Management in Japan at Tsukuba University as a Japan Foundation Fellow. She completed a study on Irrigation Management in Thailand at Thammasat University with a research grant provided by Indian Council of Social Science Research and National Research Council of Thailand. Dr Swain has completed a number of research projects in the field of Water Resources Management and Resource Economics, with sponsorship from organisations including World Bank, USAID, DFID, SANDEE, ICAR, ICSSR, Planning Commission.
