Dr Vili Lehdonvirta


Dr Vili Lehdonvirta was a Visiting Fellow at the LSE Asia Research Centre.

He is Adjunct Professor of Economic Sociology at University of Turku, Finland, a consultant to the World Bank’s InfoDev programme, and advisor to several technology startup companies around the world. He is on leave from a research position at Helsinki Institute for Information Technology, Aalto University, Finland.

Dr Lehdonvirta graduated with an M.Sc (Tech) in Information Networks from Helsinki University of Technology in 2005 and obtained his PhD in Economic Sociology from Turku School of Economics in 2009. In 2003-2004 he studied Technology Law at National University of Singapore. He has spent three years in Japan as a visiting scholar at Waseda University and University of Tokyo.

Dr Lehdonvirta has published 17 articles in international refereed journals and edited collections dealing with the intersection of information and communication technologies (ICT) and society.
