This book, edited by by Ehtisham Ahmad and Giorgio Brosio, examines whether decentralization enhances service delivery and poverty reduction. Taking further the recent developments in fiscal federalism literature, the book presents policy oriented papers on the complexity, governance and politics of decentralization and its relation with service delivery. The book also presents new empirical evidence from different parts of the world, which build on efficiency and distributional aspects stressed in the literature.
