The LSE has a long record of research on China. The Research Programme on Chinese Economy and Society based at STICERD was launched in 1987 and moved in 1997 to the Asia Research Centre together with Professor Athar Hussain.

Many current Chinese officials have spent time at LSE through this programme. The trust and experience of our long-term relations contributes not only to research but also to the School’s special role in knowledge sharing with China.

The ongoing Asia Research Centre activities related to China include research, knowledge exchange and dissemination.
