MSc Accounting and Finance, Class of 2012

Svetlana-KheIt had been my dream to get into LSE since I was a fifteen-year-old schoolgirl studying in my hometown in eastern Russia. Eight years later my dream came true. After earning degrees in International Education Management, I found myself particularly interested in Finance, which motivated me to pursue a solid education in this sphere. I first came to LSE to take the Diploma in Accounting and Finance, and followed this with the Masters Degree the next year. One of the most popular programmes at LSE, the MSc Accounting and Finance provides a wide range of elective courses and the opportunity to be taught by professors and experts of worldwide renown.

What I found most challenging about LSE, and MSc Accounting and Finance in particular, was the studying process itself, which required a lot of self-education and critical thinking. “Rerum cognoscere causas” (“To Understand the Causes of Things") – that’s exactly what the students are encouraged to do. LSE is a great place to study with the most ambitious and talented students from all over the world who set the bar high. Moreover, LSE has a well-developed network of various societies; it hosts regular public lectures by famous speakers and prominent leaders and provides a rich social life.

LSE has been a bridge between my academic and professional life. It has provided me with a solid background in Accounting and Finance, improved my analytical and numerical skills and helped me to find a job in one of the largest professional services firms. I am looking forward to starting my Financial Advisory career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in London this September. After having spent two great years at LSE, I can definitely say that the experience has changed my life. And I believe it will change more lives in the future.
