MSc Accounting and Finance, Class of 2009
The incredible depths of learning as well as diverse social contact with like minded people are among a few of the reasons I chose the LSE and MSc Accounting and Finance programme. Rather than cover many of the same topics from undergraduate courses, the MSc took my knowledge of finance concepts to a clearer level of understanding. LSE attracts top professors who are accessible to students and who are themselves quoted by other academics around the world. Outside the lecture hall, central bankers, foreign officials and business leaders impart their thoughts in guest lectures available to all students.
My fondest memory is all the people I met. The MSc Accounting and Finance programme is large, but manages to remain cohesive. As so many people travel to London specifically for the programme, and because everyone is business and finance oriented, it is very easy to make new friends. LSE organised events and numerous student organised parties filled my social calendar throughout the year. Post graduation, it's been easy to retain global friendships with classmates around the world thanks to Facebook and LinkedIn.
Today, I work in the investment banking division of a major European Bank. The financial framework I learned in the MSc programme has helped me understand the business world and make better financial decisions.
