What is the SSCR's policy on ethics?
The School will fund research that abides by the DH Research Governance Framework for health and social care and the relevant legislative background.
Does the SSCR provide funding for ethics applications within funded projects?
Where ethics approval is required for any/all activities within a project, the NIHR School for Social Care Research can only release funding for those activities once ethics approval has been provided by the National Social Care Research Ethics Committee.
Funding can be released for activities not requiring ethics approval where these are stand-alone activities (such as scoping or literature reviews) with independent outputs. Funding cannot be provided for preparatory activities for ethics applications.
