HEIF 4 funded showcase seminars

With support from the LSE's HEIF 4 Fund, LSE Health and Social Care has had the opportunity to share and showcase the Centre's research, to demonstrate the Centre's research impacts, and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge. Three events were held, each focusing on an important area of policy and practice across health and social care. Each event involved speakers from LSE Health and PSSRU (presenting research findings and an overview of the Centre's work in the area) and external experts. The events aimed to engage with people from across the research spectrum (academics, non-academic research users, policy-makers, funders), and were attended by just over 600 delegates.

Excellence in Public Policy: A Celebration of Julian Le Grand's forty years as a leading academic and policy analyst

Tuesday 24 May 2011

This event marked Julian Le Grand's forty years as a leading academic and policy analyst. For excellent public policy, it is necessary to have a clear idea of both the ends to be achieved (including equity, quality and efficiency), and the means for achieving those ends (including the structure of motivation and incentives, and the appropriate balance between market and state). Julian has made major contributions in all of these areas, and this Seminar provided an opportunity for distinguished academics and commentators to reflect on his work while developing their own ideas. The event was chaired by Professor Stuart Corbridge (Pro-director, LSE).
