Abstract Submission Guidelines

Can you grab attention for your Global Health research with a headline abstract?

Social science research often contains relevant evidence or findings that can be turned into a headlined abstract as a way of creating engagement with a wider community. Staff and students across the School are invited to submit headlined abstracts summarising current or recent research work in Global Health. Submissions should include a headline that grabs attention and an abstract that points out the importance of the research to a user community in the public or policy realm.

If your abstract is accepted into the exhibition, it will be:

  • printed (free of charge) and displayed at the Global Health Initiative Poster Exhibition on 18 May 2017. You will be expected to attend to exhibit your work.
  • winning abstracts will be displayed on the LSE Global Health Initiative website.

If you need any guidance on drafting your abstract submission then the LSE Research Festival Headline Abstracts Toolkit (the Research Festival hosts a similar abstract and poster display annually) has some useful advice.

Judging criteria

Abstracts will be judged by an expert panel from the Global Health Initiative Steering Committee against the following criteria:

  1. Does the headline grab attention and capture the important insight from the research?
  2. Does the abstract make the case for why the community should be engaged by the research?
  3. Is the abstract well-written, concise and communicative?
