Vacation shutdown checklist

The Green Impact Team have put together a shut-down "checklist" before closures and long-term vacations.

On your last working day before the closure/vacation:

  • Please ensure all electronic equipment in the office is switched off (not on standby!)
  • Make sure windows are closed. The heating will be off over the Christmas closure so in order to make sure your office is suitably heated for when you come back, please do everything possible to keep the heat in.
  • If you are planning on coming in to the LSE during the Christmas break, please speak to your manager about this in case you need to make arrangements, i.e. with security or for heating. Please remember access to buildings will be restricted with no access at all on 25 and 26 December and 1 January. There is no access after 5pm at the weekends and the buildings will close at 9:30pm the rest of the time. Please click here to view security arrangements.
  • If you know you are one of the last ones to be leaving the building, please could you make a check on any “shared” equipment, such as printers and PC’s (specifically in COW 4.11, also known as the post room), the photocopier on the ground floor of Cowdray House, and switch them off.
  • Please do check the fridge to make sure you haven’t left anything in there which will go off before we return on 4 January 2016.

And obviously, please do not forget to switch off the lights!

If you have any further suggestions to add to this list, please send them to lsehsc-greenimpact@lse.ac.uk.
