Helen Yaffe is an economic historian of Cuba and Latin America. She has lived and researched in Cuba frequently since 1995. Her book, Che Guevara: the economics of Revolution, has received excellent reviews and been translated into several languages. She has also published book chapters and journal articles on Cuban political economy and Latin American and Caribbean economic and political integration, including in the post-2000 period. Helen has taught Latin American (economic) history at LSE, UCL and Birkbeck. She currently teaches the history of economics and the political economy of late development in the Economic History Department at LSE. She regularly provides media commentary on Cuba, Cuba-US relations and developments in Latin America – most recently on CTV (Canada), BBC News and Sky.
