Thomas Piketty is Centennial Professor at LSE and the International Inequalities Institute.
All LSE PhD students are invited to submit an application to take part in the masterclass which he will hold in 2015-16.
There will be a maximum of 15 PhD students enrolled who will be selected on the basis of the feasibility and relevance of their proposed project.
These projects will be expected to be a specific part of the students’ doctoral studies (perhaps one proposed chapter or journal paper), and of a form which allows them to be completed within a 6 month period.
Normally, students will be accepted during their 2nd and 3rd years of study (for Economics PhDs, during year 3 or 4).
Teaching will be led by Thomas Piketty, supported by Laura Bear (Anthropology), John Hills (Social Policy), Mike Savage (Sociology) and other colleagues involved in the III.
